Milford Sound Tourism Limited is looking for a Project Planning Advisor to spearhead their future infrastructure projects based at Piopiotahi, Milford Sound, once declared the “8th Wonder of the World”.

Milford Sound Tourism Limited (MSTL) works behind the scenes managing vital infrastructure, including the harbour, wharves, visitor terminal, parking facilities, and sustainable wastewater and recycling systems.
We’re dedicated to preserving this extraordinary destination in New Zealand’s largest national park, partnering with the Department of Conservation, tourism operators and local businesses to enrich the visitor experience.

About the role:
Reporting to the CEO, you will coordinate project planning functions across Milford Sound Tourism and Eglington Experience Limited to facilitate the delivery of top-quality visitor infrastructure. You’ll ensure that sound, compelling business cases are created for future projects and manage the consenting process, early expenditure and initial stakeholder engagement. You’ll retain oversight through transition to the project owner, with ongoing accountability for operational safety.
You’ll also be hands-on with smaller projects to gain an insight to the infrastructure tourism industry, including implementation, compliance, resource coordination, variance reporting, onsite coordination, progress tracking, quality monitoring and handover documentation. You’ll support risk and issue management and monitor project related health and safety.
On top of BAU you’ll also build and implement an effective project management system, processes and reporting tools.
Based in our Te Anau location the role covers work throughout the Milford Sound region. This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, offering between $130,000 to $150,000 per annum, relative to experience.
About you:
Bringing a depth of experience in project planning and early-stage project management, you’ll be well-versed in the RFP process, with existing contacts, and adept at writing robust business cases for future projects. The scope of projects is broad and varied, from marine and wastewater to visitor centres and micro hydro-electric power. To hit the ground running you’ll need to bring experience in infrastructure construction or engineering projects from a variety of industries.
To be successful in this role, you’ll also offer:
· Project management qualification
· Tertiary qualification in operations management or Engineering with 5 years’ experience in operations management, project management or estimating, OR
· At least 10 years in a similar role
· Sound financial skills and process focussed
· Working knowledge of project management systems/tools
· Intermediate to advanced user in Excel
· Ability to learn technical information quickly
